Beef selected by my cell phone? I think not. →
As much as I like technology, I think taste is completely personal in nature. I have been to “great” restaurants that I find to be worse than McDonald’s. I’ll have a hard time believing that my cell phone can pick out a tasty piece of beef with any better reliability than my arbitrary visual process. There’s that, and the fact that you can ruin a perfectly great piece...

Guitars →
While Tim has been tuning Pete’s guitar for Chris to take home, I’ve been learning about guitars. Interesting to note: there are 72 fret positions, but only 37 unique notes the strings aren’t the audible noise; the soundboard is the notes’ frequencies are offset by the 12th root of 2 (about 1.0595) the tempered scale is based on a 440 Hz A note Who says you...

Say it ain't so →
In a perfect world, we could definitively know if someone were guilty of crimes against his country without need for a trial. Unfortunately, we do not live in a perfect world. Due process is important, even for accused terrorists. As a matter of principle, we should be bringing these people to justice using our legal system, not a hit list executed (pun intended) off the battlefield.

No McFest for McClusky? →
Does McDonald’s even realize the kind of bad press this lawsuit is bringing up? Honestly, who is going to confuse a Special Olympics fund raiser for McDonald’s? McDonald’s spokeswoman Ashlee Yingling has to feel like an ass having to represent the restaurant during this.

Haaaaaave you met Ted?
There was a guy at Ram tonight who reminded me if Ted Mosby (you know, I’ve watched every episode, but I still don’t know the actor’s name).

Slashdot Technology Story | Sound Generator Lethal... →
penguinrecorder writes “The Thunder Generator uses a mixture of liquefied petroleum, cooking gas, and air to create explosions, which in turn generate shock waves capable of stunning people from 30 to 100 meters away. At that range, the weapon is relatively harmless, making people run in panic when they feel the sonic blast hitting their bodies. However, at less than ten meters, the Thunder...

I have to admit, that while their pizza wasn’t the best, Dominos delivered it fast and cheap. Yes, I live near a Lou Malnati’s, but I can’t be bothered to wait 45 minutes for a pizza sometimes. I’m actually tempted to order a pie tonight. I’ll let you know what I think of it.

Family: Vendetta may be behind porn charges... →
And the story about the soldier accused of possessing child pornography gets a twist - personal vendetta stemming from an argument with another soldier. I knew there had to be more to the story.

Boy asks, "Why?"
I was watching TV Friday night and I was, I don’t even know what I was, I guess just, moved? They were playing a preview of one of the nightly network news shows. A reporter (it might have been Couric, maybe?) was in Haiti, and she was with a boy who was injured in the earthquake. A man with the boy was explaining why the boy was crying. The boy’s father was killed in the quake. The...

Mom defends soldier accused of having child porn -... →
I can only assume that the little girl’s parents did not turn in Specialist Miller. If that’s the case, then should I be worried that I have taken pictures of my friends’ kids? I don’t think any of those photos are pornographic, but I never know if someone else might think differently. I hate when I read about things like this. It makes me angry that there are pedophiles...

Loops
I really have to plan out how Tumblr will publish my posts. I don’t want it to post to both Twitter and to Facebook, since my Twitter feed already updates my Facebook status. That leads to double postings in Facebook. And if I have things setup the wrong way, I could end up with a loop of posts between Tumblr, Twitter and Faceboook. That would be really ugly. How do those of you with...

Group meeting 2010-01
We had our first group meeting of the second quarter for MSIT. We managed to turn in a draft of our paper summary. Hopefully the professor will see that it is a draft and not think that is our final homework submission. Time to read before I pass out on the couch.

Yet another blog
I saw that Hersch started a new Tumblr blog recently. I follow a few friends’ Tumblr blogs (Clint, Lauren, Marc, Shea, and Stephanie), as well as a couple of more famous Tumblr blogs (SHOELUST and Kevin Rose). So, I thought maybe it’s time to make one of my own. Plus, I’ve got a nifty domain name just sitting around collecting dust. Welcome to mark unread (taken from e-mail and...
