Direct links to the iOS 5 releases for each supported device (except for iPhone 4S) are available at MacStories. To install these IPSW files in iTunes:
- Connect your iOS device to your computer and open iTunes.
- Option + Click (Mac) or Shift + Click (Windows) on the “Restore” button when viewing the device info in iTunes. The “Check for Update” will result in an error [nabtron.com].
- Browse to the appropriate IPSW file and open it.
- Follow the prompts to load the new firmware on your device.

It will replace my Kindle, and 3rd party development will extend the device to do things we can’t even dream up right now. I, for one, welcome our new iPad overlord - but then again I’m a card carrying fanboy.
It’s all about perspective. I’m not really sure I care about Flash, and it might actually make my browsing experience less distracting, too.
